A road was closed off due to a car on fire in Irvine's Harbourside last night.

Police and fire crews responded to the incident at around 11.20pm on Tuesday [January 14].

It's unknown how or why the vehicle was on fire but police say they are not treating the incident as criminal at this time.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said:"At about 11.20pm on Tuesday, January 14 2020 police received reports of a vehicle on fire at Harbour Street, Irvine.

"Police and fire service attended, a road closure was put in place whilst the fire was extingushed.

"At this time, the fire is not being treated as criminal."
