A car is on fire in Kilwinning town centre with firefighters at the scene. 

The blaze was reported in the Howgate area of town just after 5pm today [Thursday, January 7] with authorities yet to confirm the nature of the blaze.

Stagecoach advised commuters the Lauchlan Way bus stop could be serviced at the present time due to the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At around 5pm on Thursday, January 7 officers were called to Howgate in Kilwinning where a car was on fire.

"Officers assisted the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service with traffic management."
