Police officers have notified the family of missing Irvine man John Cummings after a man's body was found today, August 12.
Police were informed of the discovery, in an area near Annick Water, at around 11.35am on Friday.
Formal identification is yet to take place, though they confirmed they had notified the relatives of the 65-year-old Mr Cummings.
John Cummings had been reported missing yesterday, August 11, just before 5pm, having not been seen in Irvine since 7.30am that same day.
Police later confirmed that the place he had been seen was the Gailes Gardens area of Irvine.
There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, though a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
A police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11.35am on Friday, August 12, 2022, police received a report a man’s body had been found in an area near to Annick Water, Ayrshire.
"A formal identification is still to take place, however, officers believe it to be 65-year-old John Cummings, reported missing from Irvine.
"Mr Cumming’s relatives have been notified.
"There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal."
