A SALTCOATS man is accused of stealing a safe with more than £40,000 in cash inside from his lover’s home on Valentine’s Day.
Gordon McKenna, of Windmill Street, pleaded not guilty to the charge at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week.
Court papers state the 28-year-old took the safe, containing £40,370, from a property in Whitehope Green in the Bourtreehill area of Irvine on February 14 this year.
The alleged offence was aggravated by involving abuse of his partner or ex-partner.
A trial date was set for January 9 next year and Mr McKenna’s bail was continued meantime.
He is also accused of breaching a condition of his bail order not to contact or communicate with the woman or enter her street after he was found in her home and in her company on April 7 this year.
Sentence was deferred on that matter until the same date as the trial in January.
