AFTER almost 18 months of construction Irvine's new-look Bridgegate finally opened last week.
The area was officially declared open by Margaret Burgess MSP where invited guests and locals all joined in with the celebrations.
The Bridgegate has been given a facelift as part of the multi-million pound redevelopment project by Irvine Bay Regeneration Company. Along with the redevelopment of the area, Bridgegate House and the historic Trinity Church have also been refurbished as part of the plans to bring new business and investment to the town.
Guests who took part in the celebrations included Provost Joan Sturgeon, North Ayrshire Council leader Willie Gibson and Margaret McDougall MSP along with groups involved with the project including pupils from Greenwood and Irvine Royal Academy.
