A WOMAN has died following a house fire in Irvine.
The 55-year-old died following the blaze in Parkside, Bourtreehill at around 6am this morning.
Police and firefighters rushed to the scene but the fire was already too ferocious and they were unable to save her.
It is not yet known what caused the fire but police say they are not treating it as suspicious.
Chief Inspector Brian Shaw told the Times: "I can confirm that a woman has died following a fire in Parkside today.
"At about 6.10am this morning police and fire crews were called to Parkside, Bourtreehill following a report of a fire.
"Upon arival a 55-year-old woman was found deceasdwithin the property. Attempts were made to revive her but they were unsuccessful.
"Fire investigators are investigating, however the fire is not being treated as suspicious."
