PUPILS at an Irvine Primary school are proving they are screen and stage stars of the future after being picked to take part in a Disney musical.
Lawthorn Primary is one of just five schools in Scotland selected to take part in the Disney Musicals in Schools programme.
The Lion King KIDS, Aladdin KIDS and The Jungle Book KIDS will be created by five primary schools which will be performed at their schools and at the Theatre Royal Glasgow.
It is the first time the programme has been rolled out in Scotland and will see the P7 pupils from Lawthorn perform songs from The Lion King at Glasgow’s Theatre Royal in May next year.
Lawthorn Primary was chosen following a selection process by Scottish Opera, the schools initially chosen to take part in the three-year Disney Musicals in Schools programme .
Youngsters from Lawthorn started working with two music and drama artists from Scottish Opera’s Outreach and Education Department this month.
