A NORTH Ayrshire care home is dealing with an outbreak of coronavirus.
Buckreddan Care Home in Kilwinning is being supported by NHS Ayrshire and Arran’s Health Protection Team and North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership after a small number of people have tested positive or have a suspected case of COVID-19.
It is not known if the any residents have been infected due to patient confidentiality.
But health bosses say they are taking every measure to protect residents and staff.
Lynne McNiven, Joint Director of Public Health said: “NHS Ayrshire and Arran’s Health Protection Team and the North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership are working closely with a care home in North Ayrshire where a number of individuals have either a confirmed or suspected case of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection.
“We appreciate this is a very worrying time. However, we would like to assure people that every measure is being taken to protect residents and staff.
“To respect and maintain patient confidentiality it is not possible to release any further information at this time.
“We would like to remind people of the symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19): new persistent cough; high temperature; and / or loss of taste and smell. Anyone who develops any of these symptoms should book a test and self-isolate immediately.”
