AN IRVINE-BASED senior social worker was reprimanded for dishonest conduct on the job before trying to cover her tracks.
Valerie Anne Jack was given a warning on her registration for three years after claiming a visit to a service-user had taken place while working as a senior officer at North Ayrshire Council.
The Scottish Social Services Council [SSSC] found Jack informed a council solicitor that another social worker colleague visited a service user’s home during a case meeting on November 30 2017, when this was not true.
Jack then asked the social worker to maintain that a visit had taken place on this date when this was not true.
The SSSC stated Jack acted dishonestly in deliberately providing false information and trying to conceal the behaviour, but highlighted a previously unblemished 20 year record with no further incidents and apologised.
Meeting papers state: “Dishonesty is at the higher end of the scale of seriousness. By providing false information to a colleague you have been deliberately dishonest and this could impact on public trust and confidence in social services.
“By asking a colleague to lie to conceal your dishonesty you brought your suitability to work in social services into question.”
