A YOUNG boxing star has been selected to join elite athletes in Serbia for a sparring camp.
Brooke Neely is a one of the youngest female boxers to represent Scotland at a major tournament
The 16-year-old, who boxes with Irvine Vineburgh, has already been called up by her country to compete at the European Schools Championships in Tblisi, Georgia in 2019.
Boxing since she was nine, she has won two British championships, five Scottish championships and three western district championships.
The four other boxers have gained selection onto the Elite Boxer Group (EBG) from Boxing Scotland’s Next Generation Group were Chloe Bodwick, Sonny Kerr, Isa Akram and Adam Perrie.
Boxing Scotland’s performance director Craig McEvoy said: “Despite the restrictions due to Covid-19, our Next Generation Group were provided continuous remote and outside training opportunities over the last year.
“As part of our development strategy, it’s now great to see the pathway system working with young boxers being “promoted” onto our EBG.
“A big well done must go to their clubs for all the hard work they put into these young aspiring athletes, and we hope they will continue to develop and thrive within our EBG.”
