The Scottish Centre for Personal Safety based in Ardrossan beat seven others in the running for the multi-strand Community Organisation Award.
One of Britain’s most loved presenters Konnie Huq hosted the 9th annual National Diversity Awards on Friday, September 17.
After a much-anticipated delay, community organisations and role models from across the UK headed to the breath-taking Liverpool Cathedral on September 17 to witness the countries 2020 winners being crowned the best of British diversity.
On winning the award, founder Alan Bell commented: “Diversity and inclusivity have always been at the heart of everything we do, so when we were told that we had reached the final of the National Diversity Awards from over 62,000 national nominations we were thrilled. To then win this award is absolutely astonishing and it means so much to our volunteers, supporters and funders.”
The charity, based in the Barony St John Centre in Ardrossan, provides empowering Personal Safety training to many diverse groups such as female survivors of violence, LBGTI, ethnic minority and sensory impaired people. They have so far helped over 6,000 vulnerable people by providing almost 15,000 life-changing training sessions.
