An 85-year-old woman has died after the car she was driving crashed into a building at Riverside Retail Park in Irvine.
Following the incident, which took place around 9.55am on Wednesday, October 6, the woman was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where she sadly died yesterday [Saturday, October 9].
The lady has been named by police as Jean Walker from the town.
A 77-year-old pedestrian also suffered minor injuries from the crash.
Police are now appealing for witnesses.
Sergeant Craig Beaver from Road Policing said: “Our thoughts are with Jean’s family and friends at this difficult time.
“We are keen to speak with anyone who was in the retail park at the time, or has dash cam footage of the incident, to get in touch via 101 quoting incident reference 0821 of 6 October 21.”
