Tesco will reportedly start checking customers receipts as they leave stores in an attempt to tackle theft.
Tesco is Britain’s largest grocer and competes as part of the UK’s ‘big six’ supermarkets alongside Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Aldi and Lidl.
The supermarket chain, with stores nationwide, will now be taking extreme action to try and stop theft.
Tesco could adopt major change in UK stores
A notice in a Tesco store in Yorkshire has been circulating on social media hinting that a change to school policy could be on the horizon.
The notice reads: "We know this may sound a little unusual, but we genuinely believe this is the right thing to do for our regular customers.
"We've listened to lots of customer feedback over the last 6 months and the biggest thing people speak about is wanting to feel safer in the area and our store."
It continues: “We want this too!”
Customers have responded positively to the change saying “the store feels safer, is a nicer place to be and the shopping experience is much improved.”
The notice continues: "Checking your receipt should only take a few seconds of your time and will never negatively impact a genuine customer.
"If you have any questions or concerns please speak to one of our dedicated team members or managers, who will be more than happy to chat through them with you."
