Irvine residents turned out in force for Remembrance Sunday as the annual parade made its welcome return.
The Irvine parade mustered at the library before departing for the Old Parish Church for a Remembrance service.
Community groups, council leaders as well as branches of the cadets and emergency services then joined to lay wreaths at the war memorial.
Provost Ian Clarkson, who is also North Ayrshire’s Veterans’ Champion, said: “Remembrance Sunday never fails to move me but I felt this year’s service was perhaps even more poignant than most.
“After the events of the past 18 months, it was very heartening to see us start to come back together to commemorate and honour those who laid down their lives in war, including hundreds from our own communities. I’d like to thank all the individuals and groups who made it such a special day.
“As time moves on, it’s important that we never lose sight of what this act of remembrance means.”
