A PATIENT staying at Irvine’s mental health hospital awaits sentence after throwing a cup of coffee at a nurse’s head.
Ian George Wales, 61, admitted assaulting, obstructing or hindering the nurse while she worked at Irvine’s Woodland View Hospital – in breach of the Emergency Workers (Scotland) Act 2005.
Court papers state Wales, whose address is listed as Ward 8 Woodland View Hospital, threw the cup of coffee at the woman, causing it to strike her on the head.
Sheriff Sheena Fraser heard that Wales – who was not present during the hearing – pleaded guilty to the offence, when the case was called at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week [Thursday, February 17].
Wales will be sentenced for the offence at a later date next month.
