A TEENGAE Irvine dancer is looking forward to joining a top musical performance after lockdown left her having to do shows virtually from her bedroom online.
Irvine youngster Robyn Goodfellow, 16, will be part of the dance team at the Movies to Musicals show being staged by the Glasgow Philharmonia charity at the Alhambra Theatre, Dunfermline later this month – sharing the stage with Eastenders, Cats and La Cage aux Folles star John Partridge.
Robyn joined the show’s Kids’ Cast last year and is looking forward to taking to the stage with the rest of the company for the first time since Covid restrictions were eased.
After six sell out shows at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, and two years that saw the Arts come to a stop, Movies to Musicals is back bigger and better than ever before.
Robyn said: “I have been in the Kids’ Cast since 2021 and it has been one of the best experiences of my life.
“The charity has inspired and helped me in so many ways it’s unimaginable. It’s helping young performers like me achieve our dreams and I’m so grateful to be a part of it.
“All throughout lockdown, we did online concerts to keep up our spirits, keeping us doing what we love and I couldn’t be more grateful to the M2M team for what they have helped us achieve.”
This all singing, all dancing theatrical show at Dunfermline’s Alhambra Theatre takes place on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th March, and brings you a night of your favourite Musicals and Movies Soundtracks performed by a Live Orchestra, Kids Cast, Musical Theatre Cast and artists from London’s West End.
As well as welcoming BBC Celebrity Masterchef winner and Eastenders star, John Partridge, who has stepped in with a month to go to replace X Factor star Niki Evans - who has taken on the role of Mrs Johnstone again in Blood Brothers - fans of Movies to Musicals will witness performances from Les Miserables and Light in the Piazza’s Rob Houchen, and Jade Davies, known for her roles in Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Producer of Movies to Musicals Ross Gunning said: “I am absolutely delighted that John has agreed to do Movies to Musicals this year, sharing the stage with our incredibly talented young performers.
“After a difficult time for the arts industry, it’s lovely to be back, and this time at our new venue of the Alhambra Theatre. The audiences are definitely in for an incredible show.”
People attending next weekend’s shows can expect songs from Legally Blonde, Grease, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, School of Rock, Miss Saigon, Les Miserables and many more, making it a night not to be missed for any fan of musical theatre.
