COUNCIL chiefs have had to retire the official Report It app for logging complaints after frequent faults with the system.
Residents will now need to report any issues on the council website www.north-ayrshire.gov.uk/report.
North Ayrshire Council officially retired the app - which customers currently use to raise incidents and faults with Streetscene and roads - last week.
A spokesperson said: “The app is being retired by the supplier and no further updates to this are available to keep this current and secure. Customers will instead raise faults/incidents through the council’s website via new forms with increased functionality.”
Kilwinning Councillor Donald Reid said: “The council's Report It app was a handy piece of technology in its day but its functionality has decreased as the provider removed support to maintain the app.

“It’s now time to move forward and hopefully the public will find the website easier to report common problems like potholes, lights out and litter.”
We previously reported how North Ayrshire’s smartphone app for logging complaints was itself still faulty – with councillors hearing NAC hoped it would be fixed in the near future.
A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “We discovered and fixed a fault in our Report It App late last year. Unfortunately, subsequent changes required by Google Maps caused a further issue.
“We are currently implementing a solution to the new problem. The Android version of the app has been fixed and we expect issues with the iOS version for Apple users will be resolved in the very near future.
“We apologise to users for any inconvenience caused and advise that faults can still be logged on the council’s website at www.north-ayrshire.gov.uk.”
