A FRESH appeal for information has been issued following a fire at Kilwinning Abbey.
The castle, which was built in the 1100s, was vandalised in March after a wheelie bin was set on fire, damaging some of the ancient stonework.
The Abbey and its grounds are Category A-listed, meaning that they are amongst the most important historic sites in Scotland.
And according to police, the bin was stolen from a nearby premises.

A Police Scotland statement said: "Information sought regarding a wheelie bin set alight against the historic Kilwinning Abbey ruins - causing irreversible damage. Bin was stolen from a nearby business overnight on 23/03/22 - 24/03/22 and lit against the site. Any information please contact 101."
