TOP quality food and drink from across Ayrshire will be on sale in Irvine next weekend as the county’s festival season gets under way in style.
With coronavirus restrictions almost entirely removed by the Scottish Government, Ayrshire’s food and drink scene is gearing up to flourish once again as summer returns.
And kicking things off, the Tastes of Ayrshire Food and Drinks Festival, being held at the Scottish Maritime Museum on Saturday, May 7, will showcase the very best of Ayrshire’s food and drink producers as guests wine and dine on top notch local products.
There will be food vans serving meals, chef demonstrations using the best of Ayrshire’s produce, Clydesdale horses cart tours, competitions, plus free entry to the Maritime Museum itself.
Hosted by Ayrshire Food an A’ That, a local group celebrating, supporting and promoting locally sourced and produced food and drink in the region, entry is fee to all guests.
Ayrshire Food an A’ That spokesperson Adrienne McGeechan said: “We’re delighted that one of the first events to be hosted post Covid is a celebration of Ayrshire’s fabulous food and drinks.
“As well as sampling some great food and drink, there will be cooking demonstrations, the Carter’s and Costal Tour complete with Clydesdale horse and cart, as well as free entry to The Scottish Maritime Museum."
Alastair Dobson, chair of the Ayrshire Food and Drink regional group, added: “It’s sure to be a great day for all the family and it will be great to see people out and about enjoying themselves.”
The Tastes of Ayrshire Food & Drink Festival will take place on Saturday, May 7 between 11am and 4pm at The Scottish Maritime Museum, Linthouse Building, Harbour Road, Irvine KA12 8BT.
