KILWINNING Rangers have taken a historic step forward after their application to become full members of the Scottish Football Association was approved.
It means that the Buffs will eventually be able to climb through the Scottish football pyramid system and compete in the prestigious Scottish Cup - and perhaps one day even play in the SPFL.
The West of Scotland Football League side finished fifth in the Premier Division in 20221-22 on 61 points, behind Clydebank, Pollock, Auchinleck Talbot and champions Darvel.
And the Buffs' season isn't finished yet: they will face either Hurlford United or Pollok in the final of the Kilmarnock Pie West of Scotland Football League Cup at Townhead Park on June 11.
Kilwinning were due to face Darvel at Buffs Park in the semi-final this Saturday, but have been given a bye into the final after Darvel - who missed out on promotion to the Lowland League after losing a play-off with Tranent last weekend - withdrew from the competition.
Following the decision to grant the Buffs' Scottish FA membership application, which will take effect at the organisation's AGM later this month, a club spokesperson said: "The club are delighted to confirm we have been granted Full Membership of the Scottish Football Association, effective from Tuesday 21st of June 2022."
"We'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at the club and many of our sponsors who made this possible.
"A historic day for football in Kilwinning!"
