IRVINE’S first-ever Making Waves festival was closed in the most typical fashion imaginable on Saturday with an absolute downpour soaking revellers.
But the wet weather certainly didn’t dampen any spirits as Del Amitri brought to a close a fantastic day of entertainment.
The weekend was opened by the much anticipated return of the Red Arrows to Irvine, something which was enjoyed and appreciated from well beyond the beach park.
Saturday’s line up included Anna Sweeney, Nerina Pallot, Ross Wilson and former Silencers member JJ Gilmour.
Fatherson made their return to the Ayrshire stage followed by Twin Atlantic, who certainly did not disappoint.
Del Amitri brought Saturday to a close, and very few bands would be able to hold a crowd quite like frontman Justin Currie did through what was certainly the harshest conditions at such a late stage in the evening.
On Sunday, fans turned out in force again for a slightly more relaxed affair, rounded off, as the Red Hot Chilli Pipers put their famous Scottish spin on modern classics.
