KILWINNING Rangers Colin Boyd has decided to step away from the role.

Boyd himself confirmed the decision on his own social media page earlier today.

He said: “After careful consideration and following discussions with my family, I feel it is the right time for me to step down as chairman of Kilwinning Rangers FC.

“I am grateful for having had the privilege to serve my local club for so many memorable years and I’m also incredibly proud of everything we achieved together.

“I managed the club with full commitment and integrity and know I’ve left the club in a better position than I found it.”

The Buffs said they were “disappointed” to see him go, after he spent five years at the club, making major strides in that time.

Boyd oversaw the move to Buffs Park from Abbey Park, and the club securing their historic SFA membership, and with it first entry into the senior Scottish Cup.

The club statement continued: “His legacy will live on forever with The Claire Hub. Without Colin’s vision and determination The Buffs would never be where we are today.

Under his stewardship the team won the Ayrshire Cup in 2018. Colin has given Kilwinning a once junior football club a professional football side the whole community can be proud of.

“The club will communicate its next steps in due course.”
