NORTH Ayrshire Ice Hockey Club’s teams will all play under the one name after a motion to rebrand the club as North Ayrshire Wild was backed by members.
The move, presented by club chairman Scott Campbell, means that the club will be dropping the names Sabres (u10s) Penguins (u12s) Stars (u14s) Predators (u16) and Devils (u19s) and will now be called North Ayrshire Wild.
The club is now in talks with kit suppliers to order five new sets of kits for all age groups which will be carbon copies of the senior SNL team. This will now unify the close family bond between junior and senior teams within the club.
Vice chair Andrew Kerr said: “I am delighted with the announcement that all our clubs will be playing under one name going forward.
“This will not only bring all the teams together, but will encourage all our younger players to train and develop their progress through our coaching system and staff, therefore making the transition from junior to senior SNL hockey seamless.”
The club is also looking for local businesses to get on board by taking up a sponsorship package which would see companies’ names appear on the teams’ kit. For more information contact Scott Campbell on naihcchair@gmail.com.
