Twelve athletes from North Ayrshire Athletics Club headed through to Grangemouth to compete in the last outdoor individual championship of the season last weekend - with some great performances in all ages groups.
The club was represented in the under-13 age group by Sophie, Lilly, Lola and Emy. Sophie clocked 13.48 seconds for hurdles, and threw a 4.35m shot put - both PBs for her. Lilly made it to the final of the shot put and produced an impressive PB of 7.22m and also gained a new PB of 13.10 secs in hurdles.
Lola had a fab day, too, with a shot put of 4.09m, clocking in at 2.35mins for her 800m and jumped 3.46m in the long jump.
Emy pulled off three PBs in all her events, coming in at 4.16m for shot put, 15.38secs in hurdles and in the 1500m she was 5.47mins on the clock.
In the under-15s age group they had Naideen, Jaymee, Jessie, Shannon and Nathan.
Naideen had a great day, with consistency in her shot put and was so close to her high jump PB with the best event of the day for her running a big PB in her hurdles at 13.02 secs.
Jaymee was performing well in both the discus and long jump, but she secured herself a place in the final of the 300m and bagged herself a silver medal in the final, coming in at 42.86 secs.
Jessie secured gold in both her events with an impressive shot put of 12.35m and hurdles with a new PB of 11.44secs.
Shannon made the final of her long jump and hurdles, not far off her PBs but threw an impressive 30.00m in javelin, claiming a silver podium place.
Nathan made it into the final of long jump and ran a fantastic 200m, but the event of the day for him was becoming the national champion in pole vault with a new PB of 2.66m.
The under-20 category saw three athletes compete, with Jilly just missing out on a podium place on count backs in high jump at 1.57m. Aidan took bronze in pole vault with a season’s best of 3.62m.
Lewis took to the triple jump and jumped a massive PB of 11.49m coming a respectable fourth position.
Kirsteen Brown, president, said: “What a fantastic achievement for team NAAC; winning three golds, two silvers and one bronze at a national competition is nothing short of amazing.
“To see the hard work of our athletes paying off, whether it be personal bests or podium places - every athlete wore their club vest with pride and gave every event their all.
“Massive thanks to our fantastic volunteer coaches for giving up their time to help our athletes become fitter, stronger and better.”
