Irvine residents have been told to brace themselves for some disruption amid a Met Office weather forecast for North Ayrshire and other parts of Scotland. 

The national weather service has warned of strong winds throughout Friday and has predicted short bursts of heavy rain. 

The rain could cause some flooding and partially impact bus and train services. 

Brighter weather and scattered showers are expected for the rest of the weekend while strong south westerly winds are set for Saturday and Sunday.

What to expect from the Met Office weather forecast? 

  • There is as much as a 95% chance of rain at around 10am and 1pm
  • Short bursts of heavy rain throughout the day
  • Strong Southerly winds that could reach as high as 47mph
  • Temperatures are to feel no higher than 9 degrees until around 4pm
  • Humidity could reach 88% in the early afternoon

The BBC forecast

The BBC has predicted a similarly wet and windy end to the week, with a huge weather system of strong winds and heavy rain expected on Friday.

Saturday and Sunday will experience cloudy conditions with small spells of rain and sun.
