THE Old Firm derby came to Irvine this weekend – though it wasn’t the Glasgow giants playing.
Instead it was the two teams’ Irvine supporters clubs who faced off in the Ayrshire Sunday Amateurs FA league.
Irvine No.1 CSC were runners up in the league last season, while Irvine Rangers SC only formed at the beginning of the campaign.
Both sides had only lost one match heading into the game, so there was plenty to play for, other than bragging rights.
In a manic 90 minutes which saw Rangers field three different goalkeepers, goals from Regan Finnie and Stuart Cairnie were enough to give them a 2-1 win at Greenwood Academy.
The score was in fact 2-1 at half time, before Rangers were reduced to 10 men, but they held on superbly to claim the three points.
