THE organisers behind the Kilwinning Fire Station's drive through Santa's grotto are keen to thank all of those who made the event a success.
The idea was put together by three crew commanders (Robbie Mcvey, Martin Hendry and Denise Campbell) and one watch commander (Andrew Hales) from the station.
It was fair to say that the event, held on December 18, was a roaring success, and raised an amazing £1,005 for The Fire Fighters Charity.
Speaking after the event, Robbie Mcvey commented: "We would like to thank the members of the public for their donations, and the numerous local businesses that helped.
"Without their help, this night would not have been such a success."
He also thanked the other volunteers who gave up their time to assist in assuring the success of the evening.
As well as crew members from Kilwinning - the team of retained fire fighters from Ardrossan joined in the festive fun.
While partners from fellow emergency service Police Scotland came along to assist with traffic management - which was very much needed.
Robbie said that around 400 kids came through the grotto throughout the evening - which of course meant that there was lots of cars waiting their turn.
Traffic was said to have been backed up all the way to Morrision's on the Stevenston side and right into Kilwinning in the opposite direction.
The tailback of cars was so heavy at one point that many people in the area mistakenly believed there had been a car crash - something Robbie apologised for!
So it is safe to say the evening was a roaring success, and here's hoping Santa makes a return to the station next year!
