Theatre goers and musical fans rejoice! There’s not one but two all-singing-all-dancing productions taking place in Ayrshire this week.

But that’s not all, as avid gig goers and music lovers can have their pick of shows as well.

See what’s in store in this week's entertainment roundup.

The Roy Orbison Story in the Gaiety’s Main Theatre – February 23

Telling the tale of legendary musician Roy Orbison, this production features songs spanning the spectrum of Roy’s extensive career from classic hits to original songs he wrote for others.

Barry Steele plays Roy, singing his songs with an uncanny likeness to the original rockstar and accompanied by a backing band.

Tickets cost between £26-30 and are available here: www.thegaiety.co.uk/events/barry-steele-in-the-roy-orbison-story.

The Orchestra of Scottish Opera in Ayr Town Hall – February 25

Conducted by rising star Taavi Oramo from Finland, this show is inspired by Finland’s vast landscapes and majestic swans – reflecting both through the music.

The orchestra will perform Nielsen's Helios Overture and Flute Concerto with flute soloist Eilidh Gillespie, finishing with Sibelius' Symphony No. 5 in the second half.

Adult tickets cost between £20-26 with those under 26 costing £6 and under 18s going for just £3.

Set to a score by Broadway heavyweights Chad Beguelin and Tim Herlihy, this production is perfect for anyone wanting some feel-good fun.
