A POPULAR Kilwinning pub is to re-open this week following nearly two months of closure.
The Alton Inn on the town’s Byres Road has been closed since December 27 when it announced the decision.
At the time, they said this would only be for a short period - and a re-opening date is now set.
The popular boozer is to open to the public once again on Friday, February 24.
And they are kicking off their first weekend open in 2023 in style with a karaoke night planned, with the “resident karaoke queen” Dianne Eagleson, for their relaunch - with doors opening at 6pm.
The band ‘Done and Dusted’ are set to play the venue from 9pm the following day, Saturday, February 25.
It is a welcome return for many who have missed popping into their local, particularly given that Kilwinning has already lost one bar from the area with Taylor’s closing in the summer of 2022.
The Alton only confirmed their return on Sunday, February 19, but already people of Kilwinning have said they are “buzzing” to get back.
There has been no official confirmation as of yet, but it is expected that the bar will still offer food, and be dog-friendly, upon re-opening.
