POLICE have renewed their appeals to help trace a man missing from Kilwinning for nearly three weeks.
Andrew Linton, 43, left a property in the Corsehill area of the town at around 5.35am on Wednesday, February 22, and no knowledge of his potential whereabouts from then is known.
Police felt they may have made a breakthrough over the weekend, releasing a CCTV image from Lochlibo Road at its junction with Cairnmount Road in Irvine from the day of his disappearance which they believed matched his description.
Though they later stated that their enquiries confirmed that this man was not Andrew.
However, officers say that even though this sighting was not Andrew, they are continuing to work to establish his movements and are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them.
Andrew is described as white, around five feet and six inches in height, of stocky build and speaks with a local Ayrshire accent.
When he was last seen, he was last seen wearing a blue polo shirt, a light-coloured beanie hat, dark blue cargo trousers and black boots.
It is thought he may also have on a grey hooded jumper and be carrying a large red and grey ‘Karrimor’ rucksack with laces crisscrossed the front of the bag.
Andrew's family are growing increasingly concerned for his wellbeing and his disappearance has been described as very out of character.
Inspector David Cameron said: “Andrew was last seen over two weeks ago and as time goes on his family are becoming understandably more concerned.
“I would like to thank the members of the public who got in touch to assist with our recent appeal.
“Although this sighting was determined not to be Andrew, our efforts to trace Andrew are continuing and we have been searching the local area as well as reviewing CCTV.
"Extensive enquiries are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who believes they have seen Andrew, or who has any information on his whereabouts to contact us. Any information, no matter how small could help.”
Since he was last seen over two weeks ago searches have been carried out in both the Corsehill area, Stevenston and Ardeer, to no avail as of yet.
Anyone with any information that may assist trace Andrew, no matter how insignificant it may seem, should contact police through 101 quoting reference number 0514 of February 22.
