Spring is finally blossoming in Ayrshire – despite what the bad weather might indicate - and so is the flourishing number of shows taking place across the county.
With an entertainment schedule filled with stars from near and far, highlights this week include the band Space, A Play, A Pie and A Pint coming straight from Glasgow’s West End, and a star-studded production of an Ayrshire playwright’s debut show.

Limelight: Unplugged at Venue38, Ayr – March 24
This acoustic show will shine a light on Scottish soloists such as The Chosen Lonely, Mike Edwards, Campbell Sproat, Taylor Buntain, and Connor Johnston - with more acts to be announced soon.
The gig will be one of a kind as the first unplugged Limelight and will be an intimate evening of music showcasing underground Scottish talent.

A Play, A Pie and A Pint: The Worm Who Turned at The Gaiety’s Studio Theatre, Ayr - March 25 to 30
Originating from Glasgow’s Òran Mór’s popular Play, A Pie and A Pint series of short theatre productions, this 50-minute musical promises “marrows, mayhem and murder.”
For £15 you can enjoy the play plus a drink and pie of your choice with doors opening 30 minutes before the show’s start so audiences can order and enjoy their food.

Scottish Opera: Opera Highlights at the Gaiety’s Main Theatre, Ayr - March 25
Showcasing pieces from iconic operas as well as songs from lesser known operas, this production aims to take audiences on a tour through a kaleidoscope of operatic music.
The show features performances from Scottish Opera Emerging Artist Colin Murray, Holly Teague, Annie Reilly and Andrew Henley and is directed by Emma Jenkins and designed by Janis Hart.

The Blackheart Orchestra at The Harbour Arts Centre, Irvine – March 25
With only two musicians who play 13 instruments between them, The Blackheart Orchestra is a unique live experience featuring the smallest orchestra in the world.
Chrissy Mostyn and Rick Pilkington play instruments such as the guitar, bass, percussion, mandola, piano, organ, omnichord and vintage synthesisers to create rock, folk, electronica and classical inspired music.

SPACE: Spiders & Tin Planet 25 Year Anniversary Tour at Venue38, Ayr – March 25
Eclectic English band Space are coming to Ayr to celebrate their platinum albums Space and Tin Planet.
The band will be playing their hit songs such as Female Of The Species, Me and You Versus the World, and The Ballad of Tom Jones whilst also showcasing songs that have never before been played live.
Ayrshire rock band The Mocking Byrds will feature as the support act.

We Will Rock You at the Palace Theatre, Kilmarnock – March 25
Perfect for Queen fans, this musical tells the story of two young rebels who fight to restore rock ‘n’ roll in a post-apocalyptic world through hits from the classic rock band.
Presented by Kilmarnock’s Take a Bow musical theatre company, this production of the hit musical brings the West End to Ayrshire.

Stage to Page: On Tour! at Ardeer Community Centre, Stevenston – March 27
Saltcoats writer Graeme Cobb’s first original play ‘My Journey’ will be performed by River City star Alison Peebles and directed by Scottish TV and film director David Goodall in this live rehearsal show.
Come and see this star studded homegrown production which the writer describes as an “emotional roller coaster” with a plot kept under wraps.
