A Scottish charity is crowdfunding to transform the Bourtreehill Library building into a space for North Ayrshire families in need.
Children 1st are hoping to raise £6,000 to renovate the building and open a local hub which will be used as a welcoming place where families and children can visit and take part in fun and educational activities.
The hub will be used to host supper clubs which will teach young people to cook healthy meals, welfare cafés which provide money advice for parents, and family play days with games and activities.
Fiona McBride, Children 1st’s assistant director in Irvine, said: “The hub really is the heart of our community and we can’t wait to be able to open our doors again.
“Once the work is complete, local families can come here for connection, support and to join in with all of our group sessions.”
The charity work throughout North Ayrshire but as they do not have a base, workers run services out of different locations across the area.
Through the hub, Children 1st will be able to provide a private and safer space for families.
Established in 1884, Children 1st help abuse and trauma survivors, work to prevent abuse, and campaign to protect children’s rights.
