North Ayrshire Council’s countryside rangers held a family fun day at Irvine's Scottish Maritime Museum to show support for the military services.
A group called 'Ground Force - Nurturing Heroes' is led by the ranger service at Eglinton Community Gardens in Irvine on Thursdays.
This is a tree nursery project, funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund, which is nearing the end of its funding and the rangers hosted the spring event to show support for the military as a “thank you” for their backing for the scheme.
The council, along with many community groups across North Ayrshire, is signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant Pledge, which ensures that "together we acknowledge and understand that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy and society they serve with their lives."
Entry was free and youngsters particularly enjoyed the 251 (Ayrshire) Transport Squadron's 15-tonne truck, which they could climb into and take some fun photos.
The event also included stalls with information on volunteering, military groups, community organisations and green initiatives; family activities and crafting.
There was free food provided by the team at North Ayrshire Foodbank, and also free entry to the museum.
