A BOGUS worker has pleaded guilty to trying to defraud a Kilwinning pensioner out of £1,000.
Michael Maguire, 23, admitted attempting to swindle the 76-year-old woman at an address in the town's Tammy Dales Road on January 27, 2022.
At Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, Maguire, of Blenharn Road, Northampton, pleaded guilty to pretending urgent repairs were needed to the woman's property, knowing this was false.
The charge states he endeavoured to make the lady pay him £1,000 by fraud when he knew this was an inflated price.
Not guilty pleas from two co-accused, of Doncaster and Jarrow, were accepted by prosecutors.
Maguire is due to return to court for sentencing next month.
