IRVINE'S Crown Inn may have closed recently - but the popular premises could soon be back in business.
As reported by the Times earlier this week, boards and shutters went up at the High Street pub after the latest tenant gave up their lease for the premises.
But owners Admiral Inns are already looking for a new tenant to take over the Crown - with an advert posted on their website.
The listing reveals: "The Crown Inn is a mid-terraced, medium sized property nestled in the industrial town of Irvine.
"This traditional style pub dating back to the 1800s enjoys a prominent position on the main street which is the nucleus of the town.
"Irvine, the birthplace of Scotland’s first minister Nicola Sturgeon, is a busy town steeped in history with important maritime connections.
"Streets are named after the local poet Robert Burns and the harbour has become a major west coast port.
"Irvine has a population of 33,696 inhabitants making it the largest settlement in North Ayrshire."
"The Crown is currently operating as a wet-led, community local predominately daytime drinkers with evening and weekend trade improving.
"The site is currently not encouraging a full food offering however does produce a takeaway menu, mainly pizzas to compensate.
"Utilising the food offering is key to building trade whilst engaging with the loyal core of regular drinkers The Crown already has."
They also revealed the annual rent for The Crown Inn will be £32,000.
The Crown - a fixture of the High Street since the 1800s - previously closed in 2020 after another former tenant relinquished the lease, but it reopened a few weeks later under new management.
Earlier this week, a source at the bar told the Times: "I believe the Crown will reopen in time.
"The current lease was handed back to the brewery as the building requires a lot of work, with the roof leaking and being very run down.
"It's in the hands of the brewery if they lease it again before repairs are done, or a refit, which has been spoken about.
"The last person to lease the the pub just decided he could not continue with the condition that the pub was in."
The Crown premises played host to the world-famous Irvine Burns Club when it first formed in what was then known as Milne's Inn in 1826.
