THE new owners of an Irvine civil engineering firm say they hope to expand the business and recruit more staff.

IRVINE civil engineering firm Prime Structural Solutions has been taken over.

Prime Structural Solutions has been acquired by Uddingston based GM Civil Group for an undisclosed sum.

The Lanarkshire company, which works for Lidl as well as many of Scotland’s leading housebuilders, purchased the business from Jim Adams, who remains a consultant, and has appointed a new management team.

The Irvine business, which is based in Heatherhouse Road and employs 12 staff, has worked on projects including a new Kilwinning campus for Ayrshire College and an extension to Park Hotel for Kilmarnock FC, as well as numerous domestic dwellings and extensions to residential properties.

Michael Carlin, co-founder of GM Civil Group, who will lead the Irvine-based team, said, “We’re delighted with the acquisition which will help drive our growth plans for the group.

“The new management team are already looking to expand the business and recruit more engineers and technicians to support the growing pipeline of business.”

GM Civil Group was founded by Gordon Maxwell and Michael Carlin, who previously held senior management positions with Scottish engineering consultancy firm Fairhurst.

The group and also own GM Civil and Structural Consulting Engineers.

The company provides both civil and structural engineering services for residential, commercial and industrial developments.
