TRADES union members came together in Irvine on Monday for their annual May Day Gathering.
Organised by Irvine and North Ayrshire TUC, the event at the Bridgegate, which celebrates workers around the world, saw speakers discuss the history of May Day and the contemporary role of the Labour and trades union movement.
There was also discussion on Palestine, defending refugees and fighting the far right element in Erskine recently.
May 1 has been marked as International Workers Day since the 19th century in the United States - though it was not until the late 20th century that May Day in the UK became linked to International Workers' Day.
