In what’s become an annual event, The Dave Anderson Big Band is back at The Mure Relief Church in Irvine on Friday, May 12.
The event has been billed as a "must" for anyone who enjoys the sounds of big band music.
Dave Anderson Big Band members come from all over Ayrshire – and there are 16 of them.
A couple of the band are professional musicians but the majority are semi-professional or enthusiastic and very talented amateurs. The band comprises saxophones, trumpets, trombones plus an excellent rhythm section of piano, bass, guitar and drums. The vocalist on May 12 will be John Griffin.
Established 25 years ago by Dave Anderson, the band’s repertoire includes Count Basie, Glen Miller, Duke Ellington plus some contemporary arrangements for big bands by composers of the calibre of Billy Joel, and Stevie Wonder.
The concert is organised by the church’s entertainments committee – not to raise funds, but just to bring people together for an excellent evening of big band entertainment.
Tickets for The Dave Anderson Big Band are £7 and they are available at the door – the capacity of the church means no one will be turned away.
No need to bring your own cushion for additional comfort - cushions on pews in The Mure are in place.
If you’re a fan of the big band sound or learning a brass instrument or just like live music, be in the audience on Friday, May 12 at The Mure Relief Church in Irvine’s West Road to hear The Dave Anderson Big Band.
It starts at 7.30pm.
