TO celebrate Eurovision, we asked the new Open AI artificial intelligence programme to compose us a song - about Irvine.
The result - which only took a few minutes of 'bot time to compose - can be seen below.
We leave it to our readers to decide if this moving and heartfelt work is right up there with Abba's Waterloo ... or right down there with Jemini's legendary Cry Baby (a damning nul points in 2003).
Here then, are the lyrics for A Song for Irvine
Verse 1:
In Irvine, North Ayrshire, by the sea,
There's a town that means the world to me,
With its streets and lanes and friendly folk,
It's a place where my heart will never revoke.
Chorus:
Irvine, Irvine, my hometown,
Where the waves crash and the seagulls fly around,
Where the sun sets and the sky turns brown,
Irvine, Irvine, my heart won't back down.
Verse 2:
From the beach to the harbour, where boats sway,
There's a sense of peace that's here to stay,
With the castle and the bridge that cross the river,
Irvine's beauty will make you quiver.
Chorus:
Irvine, Irvine, my hometown,
Where the waves crash and the seagulls fly around,
Where the sun sets and the sky turns brown,
Irvine, Irvine, my heart won't back down.
Bridge:
From the Scottish Maritime Museum to the Magnum Centre,
From the Irvine Beach Park to the Irvine Harbour,
There's a sense of history and pride,
That fills me up and makes me feel alive.
Chorus:
Irvine, Irvine, my hometown,
Where the waves crash and the seagulls fly around,
Where the sun sets and the sky turns brown,
Irvine, Irvine, my heart won't back down.
Outro:
In Irvine, North Ayrshire, by the sea,
There's a place where I feel free,
With its beauty and its sense of community,
Irvine will always be a part of me.

Final thoughts? Does the Irvine sky really turn brown? Answers on a postcard. And someone needs to tell that AI that the Magnum is long gone.
