A MAN has been taken to hospital after police attended an incident in Irvine this morning, Thursday, May 25.
Another male was also arrested at the scene on Paterson Avenue in the town.
Officers say that the 38-year-old was arrested in connection with drugs offences and allegedly carrying an offensive weapon.
They confirmed that the man taken to hospital was 27-years-old though were unable to provide an update on his condition.
An investigation has now been launched into the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 8.15am on Thursday, May 25, police were called to Paterson Avenue, Irvine.
"Officers attended and a 38-year-old man was arrested in connection with drugs offences and possession of an offensive weapon.
"A 27-year-old man was taken to hospital and enquiries are ongoing."
It is understood that officers are still dealing with the incident at this time.
