A thunderstorm warning is in place for large parts of Ayrshire today (Monday).
The yellow Met Office warning runs from midday until 9pm, and covers much of the Ayrshire area.
The weather developing throughout the afternoon may bring disruption, including spray and flooding leading to difficult driving conditions and road closures.
There is also a chance of delays and cancellations to train and bus services.
The Met Office said: "Although some places will miss them, thunderstorms are likely to develop over parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland from early Monday afternoon.
"These will be fairly slow moving with the potential for large rainfall amounts in a short period of time. 20-30 mm of rain may fall in an hour or less in a few spots with perhaps 40-50 mm possible if successive showers affect the same location.
"Frequent lightning is also likely to be a hazard along with hail."
