Police in Ayrshire have issued a warning to farmers over professional criminals looking to steal tractor parts.
The force has given advice to help deter criminal gangs, as tractors become a more valuable target for theft.
A police spokesperson said: “As farm vehicles and equipment become more innovative and technologically advanced, so does their attraction to criminals - looking to steal tractor GPS systems, moisture meters and other expensive units.
“Organised criminal gangs tour the countryside for theft opportunities.
"Be extra vigilant, remove and lock away GPS systems where possible, and return machinery to locked, out-of-sight storage areas.”
Other ways to prevent theft include forensic marking or engraving your postcode on equipment, keeping vehicles stored out of site, and report any suspicious activity to the police.
