A BOY of 12 has been taken to hospital following a crash in an Irvine cemetery.
The child, who was riding a bike, was involved in an incident with an off-road motorbike on a footpath in Knadgerhill Cemetery, Bank Street.
He was taken to Crosshouse Hospital after the crash, which happened at around 8pm on June 20.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward as they make further enquiries into the crash.
They say that the driver of the off road bike made off after the crash.
Sergeant Gordon Stewart from Police Scotland's Ayrshire road policing unit said: “I’m appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened to get in touch.
"Were you out walking or driving near the cemetery around 8pm yesterday and saw an off road motorbike?
"Perhaps you have dash cam or private CCTV of the area that’s captured something of significance.
"If you do, then I would urge you to come forward.”
Anyone with information is being asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident reference 3970 of June 20, 2023.
