IT ISN'T everyday that you have the chance to see a world renowned artist on your own doorstep - unless you live in a city.
But that is exactly what the people of Irvine will have the chance to do on Friday, July 7.
DJ duo Keiran McLean and Christopher McComiskie - better known as KIMMIC - are coming to play at Pitchers Nightclub in the town.
The duo will be heading behind the decks at the Bank Street venue, and locals will have the chance to hear tunes that have been played across the globe this summer.
The Dundee DJs rose to fame in recent months after dropping their track 'Never Miss a Beat' back in February.
The track plucks a sample from the Kaiser Chiefs song of the same name and transforms it into a party anthem, which has been played in clubs across the world as one of the sounds of the summer.
The duo have gained multiple Radio 1, Capital Dance and KISS FM plays including a Radio 1 hottest record.
The song has been played millions of times on Spotify and they have also dominated the Soundcloud charts picking up a UK number one and a Worldwide number one in Dance.
KIMMIC have sold out massive venues, like SWG3 in Glasgow, but now they are bringing their talents to North Ayrshire.
It's an event that one of the organisers, Nathan Devlin, is incredibly excited about.
The Ardrossan-based DJ will also be supporting KIMMIC in the event, alongside Kilwinning-based DJ Sinki.
Now, Nathan says he is hoping to prove to locals that you don't need to travel far for a great night out.
He said: “Hopefully we can breathe a new lease of life into the area, get people coming out.
“We can actually have some quality nightlife on your doorstep, it’s not just a resident DJ every week.
“It’s something to look forward to, an actual notable event with big names.
“You can go see them in like SWG3 but having them in your own town, it’s a bit more of a buzz.”
Not only will the artists be playing in Pitchers, a 'pre-party' has also been organised for The Northern Way - bringing them even closer to fans.
And Nathan believes people should jump at the chance to see DJs like KIMMIC live in Irvine - because very soon they will be playing even bigger events.
“My job is almost like a scout, trying to find out who will be massive in like a years time," he commented.
This is more than just a prediction, with the band understood to be working with some of the best-known artists in their genre at present.
Nathan added that there is more than just a novelty to the duo playing in Irvine - it's also a chance for a great night out on a budget.
Tickets to the event are priced at just over £10 - a fraction of what you would pay for this type of event in the likes of Glasgow.
Nathan added: “You’re paying club prices for drinks but it’s not like it’s a fiver a pint like it is in Glasgow.
“You’re getting home cheap as chips in your taxi, it’s cheap to get to, it’s cheap to get in, it’s so much more affordable.
“You’re looking at a couple hundred pounds for a Glasgow night out – it’s a non-starter for a lot of people.”
