AN IRVINE shop which has been vacant for over 10 years is set to be given a new lease of life.
It comes as a popular outlet shop has confirmed that it will be moving into Irvine's High Street.
The Hanger Preloved Outlet has now taken on the lease of the former Happit store and intend to open up in the next 2-3 months.
The shop has been vacant for more than 10 years following the closure of the women's clothing store.
Though The Hanger says it is now starting renovations ahead of opening up in Irvine.
The business already has one successful outlet on Ayr's High Street, and is now looking forward to expanding into North Ayrshire.
The shop offers a wide ranger of second hand and new clothes - offering big named brands at affordable prices.
A representative from The Hanger told the Times: "The store will be the biggest second hand store in Ayrshire, including clothing, toys and furniture at the most affordable prices."
The property offers vast space, with the shop floor expanding over an area of around 5,000 square feet.
With The Hanger due to move in, it appears that previous plans for the vacant store have been halted.
We reported back in March how plans had been approved to convert the former Happit into a restaurant/gym.
An application to change the use of the property, submitted by Sava Estates, was approved by North Ayrshire Council - though do not seem to have been carried any further.
