POLICE are warning that there could be major congestion at Irvine beach park tomorrow, Sunday, July 30.
Another car cruise is due to take place in the area, with large crowds expected to descend on the beach park from all over Scotland.
The event, dubbed the "summer smasher", is due to begin at 6pm - though traffic is expected to build up well in advance of this time.
While a number of vendors are also due to be in attendance, and may be present in preparation prior to this time.
It is the second 'car meet' style event to come to the town this year, after the same organisers held a "May Mayhem" event which was also well attended.
And ahead of the event, Police Scotland are warning that congestion is highly likely in the area.
The emergency service, along with partners, have also said that they will be in attendance at the event - and that all planning to come along should make sure the law is abided by.
Inspector Craig Beaver of Ayrshire’s Road Policing Unit said: “We anticipate that a large number of people will attend this event with their vehicles, and members of the public are advised that congestion in the area is likely.
“There will be a highly visible police presence at the event and in the surrounding area.
“Anyone planning to attend the event is asked to ensure their vehicle is roadworthy and their driving documentation is in order should they be required to produce it.
“Any instances of inappropriate driving or anti-social behaviour will be dealt with accordingly and could result in your vehicle being seized.
“We want everyone to enjoy the event and we will be working with our partners to ensure everyone’s safety”.
Organisers have worked hard ahead of this latest event to ensure it also supports the local community.
It is being held as a charity event, with funds raised to be donated to local organisations.
In their latest update, organisers say that over £4,000 has been raised so far.
The total money raised is to be donated to Irvine's Coastwatch and Fullarton Community Hub as well as Ayr's Whiteleys Retreat.
