DRIVERS of electric, petrol or diesel vehicles may soon be able to fill up at a Dreghorn petrol station.
It comes as a number changes were proposed for the Annick Filling Station, just off the Corsehill Mount Roundabout.
Carney Sweeney, on behalf of the owners Motor Fuel Group, have applied to North Ayrshire Council to demolish the current car wash within the petrol station premises.
This would be making way for a complete shake-up of the layout of the area adjacant to the petrol pumps and forecourt.
In the same area as the car wash is currently located, three jet wash bays would be erected.
In the grassed area behind the car wash, eight electric vehicle charging points would be installed.
This would mean that the BP garage would have both eight fuelling stations and eight charging points for electric vehicles.
Documents attached to the proposal go on to discuss the hopes for the planned changes.
They say: "Motor Fuel Group are looking to roll-out an extensive supply of EV charging facilities at existing and new service stations across the UK to diversify their existing offer, with the aspiration to make it as easy to charge your vehicle as re-fuelling with petrol or diesel.
"The aspiration of Motor Fuel Group is to provide access to convenient and affordable charging, regardless of where the driver lives.
"Motor Fuel Group’s proposal to install new EV charging points at Annick Service Station should be considered positively in light of the national context and the demand for the necessary infrastructure to support electric vehicle use across the UK
"The proposed EV charging area has been carefully planned to positively integrate with the existing service station operation.
"The charging facility offers a modern design approach, which is uncluttered and fit for purpose.
"The proposals will be Equalities Act compliant, offering dropped kerbs and other associated measures to ensure equal ease of access for all."
The proposal is currently pending consideration, and can be viewed in full via the council's online planning portal, searching for reference 23/00627/PP.
