MARYMASS 2023 is well under way - with a Super Saturday of fun at the weekend seeing big crowds turn out in force for the Fourth Port Parade and Festival of Light event.
There was a great turnout for the parade to the port, run by Irvine Carters Society which left Ayr Road at 11am.
More fun followed at the Low Green in Irvine with the Incorporated Trades running the gala day and the ever popular duck race.
Very much a children's event, there were plenty of races for primary age youngsters to take party in and run off some steam.
The funfair was there too, as well as a great selection of stalls.
The fun continued on Saturday evening with the spectacular Festival Of Light parade leaving the High Street at 9pm, heading towards Irvine Moor.
Once again, the funfair was open and there were food and drink stalls and stands for all to enjoy.
The firework display followed at 9.45pm and proved to be an impressive spectacle once again.
The Marymass Committee were impressed by the huge turnout for the event, which included a performance by a piper near the famed Greasy Pole.
And the fireworks themselves were very impressive, as this video by Boab McCann shows.

On Saturday, August 26, Marymass Saturday returns with the one of the biggest horse-drawn processions in Scotland, followed by racing and a day of family fun on Irvine Moor.
The events will include a live action stunt show this year.
2023 Marymass Queen elect Rebecca Orr and her royal party will be crowned outside the Townhouse at noon on Saturday before the parade heads to the Moor.
Other Irvine favourites this week include the 10k road race on Wednesday at 7pm, starting outside Vanilla Joe's, the dog show on Wednesday 23 at 7pm and, of course, the Marymass derby between Irvine Meadow and Irvine Victoria on Friday.
