An angry Dreghorn resident has blasted North Ayrshire Council after children were confronted by an overflowing dog waste bin outside a school.
The woman, who asked not to be identified, told the Times that the bin at Dreghorn Primary School was overflowing with poo bags, just days after the pupils returned to school.
In a letter also sent to the council, she said: "The bin outside of Dreghorn Primary School now has dozens of dog c**p in bags on top of the bin and all around it, which is just lovely for all the children from four years old and up going to nursery or school in the morning.
"They have to walk past that disgusting, health hazard of a bin."
And she told council officers: "Whoever is in charge of this c**p, sort it out or get out.
"We've also got public paths in Dreghorn that you can't walk on because of overgrowing bushes, trees etc. It is absolutely disgusting."
A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson told the Times: “The bin in question was emptied on Tuesday morning.
"We have a schedule across the whole of North Ayrshire but always appreciate notification if a dog waste bin is already full and will endeavour to empty at the earliest opportunity.
“Scheduled maintenance of bushes and grass in Dreghorn is scheduled for various times of the year.”
