Here are a few of your comments on our Facebook site over the last few days
"Loved the Big Idea - went when I was home in Irvine. Asked my family and friends if they had been there and not one of them had - then they wonder why they lose things. Don’t use it - you lose it." - Helen Jjim Smith
"Open the public footbridge and make it accessible permanently. Would make links with Stevenston so much better." - Jonathon Poole-Smith.
"It was the most interesting of the science centres, but the hardest to get to. And your ticket paid for a science experiment to take home. The sliding bridge was cool too." - Iain Murray.
"I used to think it was the Tellytubbies house..." - Lynsey Smith.
"Could have been the new Magnum centre considering the crime of demolition of the old one, can North Ayrshire Council not use it..." - Gavin Mitchell.
"This place was fab - shame it closed as it was a great asset to area. Would love to see it redeveloped." - Sharon Caldwell.
"Beautiful building going to waste. I enjoyed working in there..." - Fiona Connelly.
"A white elephant. North Ayrshire should do something productive with this lovely theatre building." - Marion Sneddon.
"A great place for a family visit - we loved it." - Joy Tavendale.
"I remember crying on that bridge cuz there was a wee gap when Papa Joe took me and Michael for a walk." - Khelsey Moffat.
"Make it into an adventure arena wall climbing/ roller blading... eating places/music venue/cinema and a place to hire kayaks from. They built the Big Idea and then they opened up one Glasgow (I think) then the Big Idea took the brunt...and that was the downfall of it." - Irene Dainert.
"They could easily turn it into a museum telling the story of Ardeer, with space for nature centre telling us about the wildlife and vegetation in the area, a cafe, then build a path that links Irvine to Stevenston point, cutting out the need to head into Kilwinning on the coastal path. As for the bridge, keep it closed, with keypad on mooring point before it, a phonecall gets the number to open the bridge for 15 mins and then it closes, bit like train train level crossing." - John Gilfillan.
"My hubby has always said he'd love to turn it into our house... certainly would be great having that bridge if u didn't want guests..." - Karrin Walker.
"Surely the bridge can be saved, would mean that you could walk to Stevenston. Also enjoyed the Big Idea, but it was almost too good. Quite a lot to see and do and was reasonably priced so they were bound to fail." - David David.
"It would be a great venue for concerts and gigs but it never took off in Irvine as the science centre." - Liz Finnigan.
"The centre needed massive amounts of visitors to survive, and after the initial interest there wasn't the footfall needed. I wouldn't blame the science centre as much for that, it's just there's always more interest in something new than ongoing. Like the Magnum with the stupid bridge it had, a proper entrance and for it to be on the Irvine side would have been better. Indeed, even if it had just kept going to allow people to stop in for coffees and cakes it could have worked similar to other places are now packed out." - John Sim.
